A Windows update mechanism for MSIX apps distributed outside a store. An .appinstaller manifest points at a package hosted on an HTTPS location so installed copies can update themselves without a manual reinstall. It is the usual update path for sideloaded and ISV-distributed apps.
App installer matters during Windows 11, Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Cloud PC programmes because application blockers can delay the whole rollout. The practical question is whether the term helps capture, package, sign, deploy, or troubleshoot an app with less rework.
